This drive is designed for ease of use with a Mac and is fully compatible with Time Machine®. The drive is Plug-and-Play with Mac, and with FireWire 800 you get blazing transfer speeds of 800 Mbit/s, almost double that of USB 2.0.
With two FireWire 800 ports on the drive, you can daisy-chain your FireWire devices together so you will not run out of FireWire ports on your computer. For example, you can connect the hard drive to your computer and connect a camcorder to the open port on the hard drive. That way, this setup requires only one FireWire port on your computer instead of two.
